Green Video Contest

Current, global television network and the alliance for climate protection are calling 15-, 30- or 60-second climate crisis ecospot Videos to inspire change or show the environmental actions.The information and samples are being offered at ecospotcontest site. A Team of judges will select the 20 semi-finalists for voting by the public.The Prizes are Toyota Hybrid Highlander, Sony Bravia HDT,  Sony Vaio notebook, Sony DVD system for the Top 1 to 4 winners respectively and T-mobile Sidekicks for the rest of  semi-finalists. The top four Ecospots get broadcasted on Current TV, show cased in MySpace’s Impact Channel, and featured in the Alliance National Campaign. The last day for submission is Sept. 12, 2007.How about participating? and show your concern for the environment.

Greenpeace in its campaign against the coventional power stations and promoting the idea of going in for renewable energy had recently initiated awareness building activities in India.The photo shows The Le Meridien hotel in New Delhi blacked its entire building with only a few rooms lit up to form the words: CUT CO2. Greenpeace is advocating that India can meet half of its energy needs by 2050 by going in for energy efficiency and renewable energy.1 million petetions initiative for Ban on the Bulb is another initiative. AmericanRivers, national organization working for healthy rivers, since 1973, with more than 65,000 members and supporters nationwide, solicits nominations from environmental groups and organisations for the America’s Most Endangered Rivers report, each year.The list of rivers in 2007 is 1) Santa Fe River (New Mexico) 2) San Mateo Creek (California) 3) Iowa River (Iowa) 4) Upper Delaware River (New York) 5) White Salmon River (Washington) 6) Neches River (Texas) 7) Kinnickinnic River (Wisconsin) 8) Neuse River (North Carolina) 9) Lee Creek (Arkansas, Oklahoma) 10) Chuitna River (Alaska).It is inspiring to note the initiative.The details and report are here at americanrivers.org.

Read Oil shock at en.wikipedia.org and visit World without Oil, an alternate reality event game by Corporation for Public Broadcasting and ITVS, where  It invites everyone is invited to help simulate a global oil shock.  People can participate by contributing original online stories, imagining that the oil shock is really happening. One can  post blog posts, create videos, take photos to show how its going to be in fictional post-oil world.This initiative is thought provoking.
