I saw this interesting news about an engineer who has installed alternate energy sources to power his 3,500 square foot house with all amenities. May be it is first solar-hydrogen house. The technology integration is done using solar panels, hydrogen fuel cell, storage tanks, and electrolyzer. The solar power generated is more than sufficient to meet utilisation excess being used to power electrolyser to transform water in to its base elements oxygen and hydrogen. The O2 gets released into the atmosphere and the hydrogen gets stored in propane tanks. During winter, solar energy generation is less than the home requirement, hydrogen is piped in to fuel cell to generate electricity.the total cost of installation aws $500,000.The initial cost of any alternate energy source will be high but it will pay back it’s cost.Source:Christian Science monitor The Story is here. http://www.csmonitor.com/2007/0315/p12s01-sten.html?page=1
